Cabriolet Top Repair
One of the really annoying things about any Cab is when you find either by accident or on purpose you have a cut in the roof top.
Well this happened to me recently and with prices for repair and/or replace is quite steap. I thought about how to go about repairing the roof.
Now, I was VERY aprehensive about this as the cab roof can be (by rumour anyway) a pig of a job. So with a bit of research and some advise from a mate at work who happens to be into sailing I found a way of doing a good job on this.
So..Big up and respect goes out to Dave Pilkington !

1) When using the glue make sure you have the door and windows open and you are in a well ventilated area
2) Below is the parts.
3) You need to remove some screws from the inside of the roof to get acces to the inside layer. Take a good look at the bits before removing. But essentially there is a long bar with 3 or 4 screws but to get access to it you may need to remove a few other bits as well. Not difficult just take your time !
4) Next make sure the surfaces are clean on the inside, then apply some wetsuit glue (a rubberised glue) to the cut, then wet tacky cut a piece of Spinnaker tape and apply that, then apply more glue so it covers the whole repair. Use about about 2 or 3 times the size of repair that the cut is. The glue is safe for use as it is rubberised based and does not damge the roof
5) From the outside a small amount of glue will seep. This is ok as the excess can be carefully removed with a sharp knife and some care !
6) Leave everything to dry well
7) Dont put the roof up or down or allow to get wet untill the repair is fully cured, usually over 12 hours
8) In true Haynes style put everything back
9) And Voila the repair is pretty much invisible.
